An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel allegedly shot himself dead on Sunday in Chanakyapuri, an official said.
The 33-year-old ITBP constable was identified as Yogeshwar Reddy, a resident of Bellary in Karnataka. Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Deepak Yadav said that Reddy was currently posted at Nehru Taramandal (Nehru Planetarium) in Chanakyapuri. As reported by IANS, the DCP added,
Prima facie it looks like the constable shot himself in the chest by his service weapon.
A suicide note was also found from his almirah. However, the content of the note has not been disclosed. The officer told media,
The reason apparently is related to marital discord.
The deceased had returned from leave on February 5.
