Crime has no gender and literally today several daughter-in-laws today are taking advantage of gender biased laws, while ill treating their in-laws. In the case below reported from Mumbai, the ill-treatment was not just restricted to domestic violence by a daughter-in-law over her multi millionaire mother-in-law, but she also ended up murdering the senior citizen lady for property.
32-year-old woman Anjana Dinesh Patil has been arrested on charges of murdering her 70-year-old mother-in-law at their residence in Chembur’s Pestum Sagar colony in Mumbai. The deceased, identified as Sanjana Patil, was brought to Rajawadi hospital with serious injuries, where Anjana stated that the old woman slipped and fell down in the bathroom on Monday evening. However, upon investigating the mysterious death, police discovered that wife of Sanjana’s daughter-in-law had played foul.
Sanjana’s husband passed away a few years ago. The couple had no children and thus she adopted Dinesh, the son of her husband’s brother. The deceased lady owned four flats- two in Chembur and two in Worli. She had rented out three flats and lived in the fourth one with her adopted son and his wife. Despite being extremely wealthy and earning money from renting out flats., Sanjana used to seek alms outside a Jain temple in the city’s Ghatkopar locality.
How Did Police Crack Case?
On Monday evening, Sanjana was taken to Rajawadi hospital. Her family claimed that she fell in the bathroom. However, the doctors grew suspicious upon noticing around 14 injuries on Sanjana’s body and stretch marks on her neck. Subsequently, as reported by TOI they informed the police. Police initiated an investigation after registering a case of murder.
