A woman, her paramour and few other accomplices have been arrested by rural police in Nashik, Maharashtra, on charges of killing the woman’s 42-year-old husband on January 22.
The accused were presented before a local court that remanded them in police custody till Friday.
Case:
Body of deceased Sachin Dusane, a resident of Niphad was found in Kotambi Ghat area of Peth taluka. Realising it was a murder case, police soon commenced investigation.
This is when they learnt that one man named Dattatray Mahajan of Niphad could be involved in the crime.
SP Sachin Patil told TOI after Mahajan was detained for interrogation and initially he gave vague replies to the questions posed by the police. Patil said,
But he eventually spilled the beans and confessed to killing Dusane.
Motive
Mahajan and Dusane’s wife were in an illicit relationship and they both had hatched the murder plan. On the night of January 22, Dusane’s wife, Mahajan and another contract killer killed Dusane first by trying to strangulate him and then by hitting a rod on his head.
Four other people were also involved in transporting the body to Kotambi Ghat. Meanwhile, Dusane’s body was taken to Peth in his own Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was later sold.
Dusane was in the business of buying and selling vehicles, while his wife’s paramour is a construction contractor. The couple also have a 12-year-old girl.
