A case from Sri Ganga Nagar of Rajasthan was reported when a brave girl called the child helpline number to get rid of her mother’s wicked intentions. The 13-year-old conveyed her story and requested the helpline people who later came to rescue her.
Kishori (name changed) studies in class seven. The girl dialed the helpline number and informed them that her mother used to live with them, however, four months ago she moved out of the house to live with another man in Dullapur Kairi. Kishori further stated that she did not feel comfortable with her mother. Whenever the woman would return to their residence, she would force the daughter to accompany her to the place where she presently lives.
The young girl alleged that her mother would compel her to do wrong acts so that they could make good amount of money. The teenager also said that whenever the woman spoke about such things, she threatened Kishori to remain mum and not say anything to her father.
The mother who now lives with another man would often come back to her earlier home and make excuses to beat the girl and her two younger brothers. Talking about her mother’s profession and relationship, Kishori indicated that she learnt about her mother having relationships with several men, and she wanted her to also do the same.
The daughter said that she is 13-years-old and wants to study. However, the woman doesn’t let her do the same. Kishori was concerned that her mother could come and take her away with her forcibly anytime and that she did not wish to go with her. The minor wants to live with her father and siblings in her own house.
Asking for help to save her and her family from the woman, the victim described everything to the Child Welfare Committee member Prabha Sharma. Kishori called on toll free helpline number 1098 herself and conveyed her agony. The District Co-Ordinator of Child Line, Trilok Verma, registered the case and immediately informed the Child Welfare Committee.
The Committee Chairman Advocate Laxmikant Saini and member Prabha Sharma arrived at Kishori’s house to meet her. Seeing them coming forward to help her, she couldn’t control herself and broke down into tears and started narrating everything that had happened to her and her brothers until now.
Even the brothers and their father were so helpless that they couldn’t help and started crying. The members of the committee consoled them and promised to help them. According to the committee chairman Advocate Saini, Kishori’s situation made them restless.
The victim girl’s statement has been recorded. On September 18, a lawsuit has been filed against the accused woman in Jawaharnagar police station. The father of the three is a labourer. The committee is arranging education and security for the three children.
