Matrimonial battles can get very ugly and often violent. However, society overlooks every bit of injustice against the Men and their families, as they do not observe beyond one sided (false) allegations of the woman.
As per a recent report by PTI, a man and his father have approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection, alleging that they were being threatened by his estranged wife and her family.

Case:
Couple got married in 2006 and have two children – currently both are residing with their mother in Dehradun – after the woman left her matrimonial house in July 2019 due to disputes.
The plea filed by the husband and his father, residents of Najafgarh, claimed that they were being threatened by his estranged wife, her sister, brother and sister-in-law who had also tried to forcibly enter into the premises of petitioners several times.
The petition, filed through advocate Dharmendra Kumar, stated that the woman had filed a complaint against her husband before the women’s cell in Dehradun, wherein she also refused to return to her matrimonial house.
Subsequently, the husband filed a divorce petition in Dwarka district court in Delhi on the grounds of cruelty. However, the woman preferred a transfer petition before the Supreme Court and the matter was transferred from Delhi to Dehradun and another plea is pending in a court in the capital.
The petitioners sought protection and also a direction that no one shall interfere in their peaceful life and the woman and her family members, who live in Dehradun, shall not cause any harm to them.
Threats of False Cases, Extortion by Wife’s Family
The plea alleged that the woman and her family members wanted to extort money from them and in April this year, they tried to forcibly enter the man’s house, used filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences, including false cases.
Delhi High Court
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, after hearing arguments of the counsel for the petitioners, listed the plea for further proceedings on July 21.
VFMI Take:
- Every matrimonial dispute has two sides
- Do not fall for one sided sob story
- Provisions made for protection of wives, have become tools of extortion and harassment – used against husbands and their families
- Government of India (present and previous) have turned cases of Husbands, as collateral damage, who need to bear the brunt of patriarchy that existed decades ago
- Meanwhile, there are no consequences whatsoever for the women and their families, and this confidence allows them to go to any extreme
